Who would you like to see play Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) in the new epic motion picture coming (hopefully) next year? It came down to four very different choices for the lead in the end: Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Justin Timberlake, and Jared Leto. The studio has gone with Reynolds, who also played Deadpool in the recent Wolverine movie. My choice probably would have been Cooper, because he brings a little bit more age to the role, but I like the thought of Reynolds as GL and can see him doing a good job. He's a decent enough actor. My only fear would be that they decide to overemphasize the "hotshot test pilot" side of Hal Jordan. Yeah, that was a cool job (probably the coolest job of any superhero secret identity ever...right?), but my concern is more that it leads to the cocky, flip hero who doesn't take anything seriously until he learns his lesson cliche. That's a little tired, and I prefer to think of the greatness of Green Lantern. Let's hope it's not only a huge hit but a great, epic new adventure that does right by the legend.
