I Don't Like Mondays #1 ($?,Becky, PO Box 1105, Roslyn, PA 19001)

By far, this zine is about the problems that the editor, Becky, has with her school. Pretty much every single piece is about an issue, and every single piece is in the same font, same block cut out, with only the interesting backgrounds to really break up the tedium put on us, the reader, by Becky. This is not to say that there aren't a few interesting pieces in I Don't Like Mondays, but they are really few and far between. Perhaps another problem that arises with the zine is the fact that every single piece is written by Becky, and as a result, the zine just becomes tedious in another way. While she is very against the school system in general, Becky still tries to enact change by writing in a informal, yet very scholastic tone. What really are the high points in the magazine are those skits or comics that break from this mold, and it even seems that Becky knows this (perhaps subconsciously, I don't know). She asks her potential readership to tell her whether or not to do another issue, and as a member of this readership, I would say yes, if she removes herself from the teaching of the High School that has been forced upon her.
