Les Carnets de Rastapoulos #7
8 1/2" x 7", 16 pages, free
A true computer-free, cut-n-paste zine by a self-proclaimed "old school zine maker" from Canada. Inside you'll find two short bios: one about William Topaz McGonagall, the unabashed worst poet ever, which was quite entertaining to read, and the other about Pope Alexander VI, which was quite disturbing to read. Also included is a feature on the Faroe Islands, which apparently is part of an ongoing series about obscure islands. The people of the Faroe Islands are subject to the Danish goverment, but this essay tells a compelling story about how participation in competitive soccer allows these islands to express their nationhood and gives the islanders something to cheer for. This is a fun zine with a classic look, and best of all it's educational. Robert says that "anyone who writes for a copy will get one," so write!
